Why PNG files get so big
PNG is a lossless format: it stores every pixel of your image exactly, which is perfect for logos and screenshots but means an ordinary photo can easily weigh several megabytes. Getting under a 100 KB limit calls for a lossy re-encode — the compressor here saves your file as WebP or JPEG, formats that discard only the detail your eye is least likely to miss, and shows the exact output size before you download anything.
Built for upload limits
Size limits are everywhere. Email providers cap attachments around 20–25 MB, job boards and government portals often reject files over a few hundred kilobytes, and community platforms refuse or re-compress anything heavier than their cap. Messaging apps apply similar caps to pictures and documents you send. Forum avatars are the classic case — many boards still hold avatars to 100 KB or less. Instead of guessing a quality number and re-exporting until the file fits, drop it here and the tool lands on the limit for you.
Your image never leaves your device
Every step runs locally in your browser with HTML5 Canvas — the file is never uploaded to a server. You can disconnect from the internet after the page loads and keep compressing. Downloads also strip GPS and other metadata.

Frequently asked questions
How do I compress a PNG to 100KB?
Drop your PNG into the tool above — the quality slider locks itself to the highest setting that still fits ≈100 KB, and the readout shows the exact result before you save. Drag the slider to fine-tune, then press Download. PNG is a lossless format with no quality dial of its own, so the file is re-encoded as WebP, which keeps transparency, or JPEG, which fills transparent areas with white.
Will my PNG stay transparent after compression?
Yes by default. PNG files are saved as WebP here, and WebP keeps transparency exactly as it is. Switch to JPEG and the see-through areas are flattened onto white — the before/after preview shows precisely what the saved file will look like.
What if my PNG is still bigger than 100KB?
Some huge, detailed images stay above 100 KB even at the lowest quality. Pixels, not quality, are then the problem: shrink the image to the dimensions you actually need first, load it here again, and the smaller canvas compresses under the limit with plenty of quality to spare.
