About Negato
Fast, private, free image tools that run entirely in your browser.
Why we built this
Negato (from negate — to flip to the opposite) started with a simple annoyance: reversing the colors of a picture should take one second, yet the popular online tools bury the upload button under ads, slap watermarks on the download, or make you wait for a heavy JavaScript app to boot.
So we built the opposite. Every tool on this site loads as a lightweight static page, works the moment it appears, and does all the pixel work locally with HTML5 Canvas. Your image never touches a server — there is nothing to leak, nothing to store, and nothing to pay for.
What you get
Fifteen tools today, grouped by the job they do — every one free, unlimited and watermark-free:
- Invert colors — Invert Image flips every pixel to its opposite, with per-channel RGB and grayscale modes; Invert PNG Colors keeps transparency intact; Invert PDF Colors turns bright page scans into dark mode; Invert Logo Colors makes the dark-mode version of any logo.
- Film negatives — Negative Image Maker turns photos into film-style negatives, and Film Negative to Positive restores scanned negatives into viewable photos.
- Color editing — Edit PNG Colors replaces, removes, fills and inverts with transparency preserved, and PNG Color Changer swaps any shade in one click.
- Geometry — Flip Image mirrors horizontally and vertically plus 90° / 180° rotation, Rotate Image turns to any custom angle without cropping, and Resize Image scales to exact pixels with aspect ratio lock.
- Black and white — Grayscale Image keeps 256 natural shades, Black & White Converter is the photographic mono look, and Pure B&W Converter pushes every pixel to true black or white with dithering and pixel art.
- Optimize — Compress Image shrinks JPG, PNG and WebP files with a live size readout.
What's next
The roadmap follows the same rule as every tool already here: if a job can run entirely in your browser, it belongs here.
- Direct PDF upload — invert every page of a scanned document in one pass, instead of exporting page images first.
- Video frame inversion — pull a frame, flip its colors, and cut it back, without a desktop editor in the loop.
- More formats — HEIC and AVIF in, so iPhone and modern-web files work without a converter detour.
